Eagle-eyed royal fans spot one thing missing from new King Charles statement | Royal | News

King Charles has congratulated the Lionesses on social media  for their dramatic win against Italy in extra-time at the UEFA European Women’s Championship in Switzerland. However, the well-intended post has drawn criticism from football fans as they’ve spotted a glaring ‘error’.

The Royal Family social media accounts posted his kind statement on social media along with a photo of the Lionesses team and their coach Sarina Wiegman. However, one key player from the team who scored a key goal is missing from the image, and football fans have expressed their disappointment.

19-year-old rising star, Michelle Agyemang, who scored the equaliser in the semi-final, was missing, and people think she was instrumental in securing the spot in the final, and therefore hadn’t received credit.

The King’s message on X was flooded with comments from fans, with many saying: “I don’t see Michelle anywhere”, “Where is Agyemang?” and “Nice message but shame Michelle Agyemang isn’t in the pic.”

Another said: “Where is Michelle? I think you need to update your photo.”

Others acknowledged that it probably wasn’t the King himself who made the photoshopped image of the team. Another defended the King: “The King didn’t mention anyone by name. It’s a good luck message to the ENTIRE team.”

In the statement, the King commented on the Lionesses’ tireless journey to the finals, and wished them luck for their upcoming final match in Basel, Switzerland.

The full statement read: “My wife and I join all our family in wishing you, the proud Lionesses, our warmest congratulations on reaching the final of the UEFA Euro tournament.

“Your journey to this stage has been nothing short of remarkable, showcasing the skill, determination (and test of nerve! ) for which your team is so rightly celebrated. Knowing the Lionesses’ fighting spirit, I suspect we are in for another thrilling encounter on Sunday.

“Your achievements continue to inspire countless girls and women across the nation, proving once again that with dedication and teamwork, anything is possible. Good luck, England. May you roar to victory once more. Charles R.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer took to social media to laud the team’s performance, stating: “What a performance. Into the final and inspiring the nation. Let’s bring it home.”
