Long running animated sitcom Family Guy has taken a savage swipe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for the second time in their latest episode. The Sussexes were previously targeted by the satirical animation in 2023 and have also previously been mocked in an episode of South Park which turned their desire for privacy into a joke. This latest dig sees the couple comparted to history’s darkest moments as two of the characters, Stewie and Brian Griffin, both voiced by show creator Seth McFarlane, travel back in time to meet classic American author Mark Twain.
Discussing history Brian says: “Doesn’t history pretty much suck? The Crusades, Hitler…” Stewie then adds the Duke and Duchess to the mix comparing them to the worst in history saying: “Prince Harry marrying Meghan Markle?” In a meta moment it then cuts to an animated version of an exasperated Harry, sitting on a sofa watching the scene with Stewie and Brian on his TV exclaiming: “Oh, again!” the cartoon Harry then turns to the audience and remarks: “Oh, like all your wives are so much better?”
Family Guy is one of the longest running shows on TV and is on air over two decades. It has been renewed until at least the 2028-2029 TV season which will see it run for 27 series.
Harry and Meghan were previously mocked by the show in October 2023 when it poked fun at the pair’s mulit-million pound deal with Netflix implying influencing is one of the few ways they can make money, since they stepped down as senior working royals at the start of 2020.
During the episode, Peter Griffin, also voice by McFarlane, was sat at a bar pondering how he will retrieve money he is owed, before deciding that he’ll “go it alone” – just like Harry and Meghan did.
The scene then cut to animated versions of the couple lounging by the pool while a quintessentially British-looking butler waited on them and handed over a pay cheque.
The butler told Harry: “Sir, your millions from Netflix for… no one knows what.”
Harry replied “put it with the rest of them,” prompting the butler to head back inside the vast mansion shown in the background of the scene.
Meghan’s then told her husband: “Babe, time to do our daily $250,000 sponsored Instagram post for Del Taco.”
Harry appeared less than interested, staring off into the distance, telling her: “I shouldn’t have left the made-up nonsense.”
