EDF Energy is handing an automatic £150 off bills this winter to help customers struggling with heating costs.
The discount is a one-off payment that is issued to eligible households in England, Wales and Scotland through the Warm Home Discount scheme.
Households that qualify will see the discount applied to their energy bill automatically over the coming weeks, rather than directly into your bank account.
EDF has said it will provide the £150 payment by the end of March 2025 and households should receive a letter from this month confirming if they qualify.
Those who live in England and Wales will qualify if you either:
Those in Scotland, you will qualify if you either:
Households that are eligible will get a letter from the government between October 2024 and early January 2025 confirming you don’t need to do anything and the discount will be applied automatically.
Some people may get a letter asking to provide more information and will be told to call the helpline by February 28, 2025 to confirm your details. In this case, if you’re eligible your electricity supplier will apply the discount to your bill by March 31, 2025.
EDF Energy said: “If you’re eligible, we will provide your £150 payment by the end of March 2025. We aim to provide your rebate by 28 February 2025.
“If you have a credit meter, your Warm Home Discount rebate will be credited directly to your account. Once it has been applied, it will show on your next bill. You’ll also be able to view this via your online account.
“If you’re a prepayment customer, you’ll receive a voucher in the post and instructions on redeeming it. Please note that you can only redeem the voucher at the Post Office.
“If you’re a smart Pay As You Go customer, the rebate will be credited directly to your electricity meter. You’ll receive confirmation that this has been completed. You’ll also be able to view this in your online account.”
