A tragic discovery was made in Birmingham as the body of a woman was retrieved from a local lake. Emergency services rushed to the scene at the intersection of Thimblemill Road and Norman Road, Smethwick, shortly after 1pm on (July 15). Despite the efforts of West Midlands Fire Service crews who pulled the woman from the water, she could not be saved.
She was declared deceased at the location by officials. West Midlands Ambulance Service disclosed: “We were called to an incident off Thimblemill Road in Smethwick just before 1pm and sent an ambulance, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor with critical care paramedic and the Trust’s Hazardous Response Team (HART) to the scene.”, reports Birmingham Live.
They added: “On arrival, crews found a woman in the water who was pulled from the water with the assistance of fire service colleagues.” Regrettably, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, with no hope for resuscitation. West Midlands Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are expected to issue a statement soon.
Residents reported a significant emergency service presence at the location on Tuesday via social media.
