Prince Louis appeared to have received a surprise treat after missing out on attending the Wimbledon final. Although their youngest son wasn’t with them, Prince William and Princess Kate made sure Louis didnmiss out on a receiving a present from Wimbledon Champion Jannik Sinner.
In footage aired by the BBC on July 13, the 23-year-old champion was seen speaking with Kate, William and their two eldest children, Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 10, following his major win. After speaking to the couple about how he will celebrate his win Jannik was seen signing three tennis balls.
“Thank you so much, that’s really kind,” Kate told the Italian sports star.
Kate then told him, “We brought one for their brother as well”, to which, laughing, William added, “Louis would be very upset otherwise.”
At just seven, Louis is a year younger than the age George and Charlotte first attended the major event. It has been speculated this is the reason behind his absence at the prestigious event.
Responding to a tweet from the Royal News Network, one fan commented on X: “Poor Prince Louis. I think Prince George and Princess Charlotte didn’t attend until they were each 8.”
Expressing their disappointment to not see Louis with them, another fan commented: “Actually, I was hoping for Prince Louis debut. But let it be just the 2 of them.”
Kate was met with a public outpouring of love on Sunday as she stepped out to present the trophies at the Wimbledon final.
Having watched the men’s Wimbledon final from the Royal Box with her family, Kate beamed as she walked onto Centre Court.
Kensington Palace announced ahead of their arrival that the Prince and Princess of Wales, who is the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, would attend the men’s final – although it was a surprise that George and Charlotte also made an appearance.
