The incredible 3728-mile long bus journey that’s the world’s longest and crosses 30 cities | World | News

An incredible bus journey that starts from one country and ends in another, covering 3728 miles and 30 cities in five days. The TransOceania holds the title of the longest single commercial bus journey on Earth completing the distance in over 102 hours.

The route carries passengers across two nations, linking the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans in one epic overland adventure. The route stretches from Lima, Peru-perched on the Pacific coast-all the way to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which lies beside the Atlantic Ocean. Originally, the bus route ended in São Paulo, but in response to growing demand for a more complete transatlantic journey, the company expanded its service to reach Rio de Janeiro.

This remarkable expedition kicks off in Lima, winding its way through the awe-inspiring Andes mountains, where sweeping vistas and encounters with vibrant indigenous cultures await.

From there, the path plunges into the lush, tropical Amazon rainforest before venturing deep into Brazil, ultimately reaching the dazzling cityscape of Rio de Janeiro on the Atlantic coast.

To enhance safety throughout the journey, several bus drivers are assigned to the route, taking shifts and resting in a designated sleeping cabin.

The rotation guarantees that a well-rested and alert driver is always at the wheel.

One of the travellers who has been on the bus ride wrote on Reddit: “I actually took the section Lima to Cuzco (30-26), which took about 24 hours in the bus; we would occasionally have a break by the side of the road in the middle of nowhere.

“We watched some Spanish dubs of American films (Footloose remake, Flightplan). Got the guy to turn on the subtitles atleast.”

A traveller shared his experience on TripAdvisor forum: “Excellent way to see all the sights Rio. The guide was brilliant and really informative and gave advance notice of every stop. The bus was great fun especially going through the tunnels where the music was cranked up and everyone was singing and dancing. Well worth the tour.”
