Prince George looks ‘preoccupied’ at major royal events for one reason, expert says | Royal | News

Away from the royal stage, Prince George is just like most other 11-year-old boys, with his main focus being school and sports. However, as second-in-line to the throne, George is not oblivious to the royal future that awaits him.

At the moment, George’s role as King seems a long way away, as he is soon to celebrate his 12th birthday. However, one day, the moment will come, and George will have the weight of the monarchy on his shoulders.

Talking about his royal future, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror that George often looks “preoccupied” at royal events, which she believes is because he knows he will one day be King.

Jennie told The Mirror : “He (George) tends to look rather serious when he’s ‘on parade’ these days. Charlotte looks demure, Louis looks impish, but George sometimes looks rather preoccupied to me. And who can blame him?

“It is an extraordinary prospect to know that one day you will be taking on the huge role that you are now watching your grandfather perform.

“But he’s not, by any means, always a serious little chap.

“When he’s with his dad at a football match, or fooling around with his siblings and his father, he has a wonderful smile on his face, and seems happy and relaxed.”

While he may be King one day, it is believed his parents Prince William, 43, and Princess Kate, 43, are trying to give him as ordinary an upbringing as possible, along with his siblings Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven.

It is believed this was part of the reason behind the family’s house move in 2022, with William and Kate deciding to swap life at Kensington Palace for a small humble cottage on the Windsor Castle estate.

Not only was the move intended to give them more privacy, but it was also an attempt at giving the royal children a more ordinary upbringing, with no royal staff living with them.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl once said: “They absolutely do menial tasks. They are far more ordinary than many might imagine – the kids even have to do chores in return for their pocket money. It’s about them wanting to have a normal, happy, ordinary family home and lifestyle which, at Adelaide Cottage, they are really achieving.”
