The dad of a missing schoolboy has heartbreakingly revealed the last two words his son said to him before vanishing prompting a large-scale hunt. Mylo Capilla, 13, was last seen at around 9pm on Thursday, near Ingleby Barwick, Teesside, near the River Tees.
Mylo had last been seen in an area known locally as The Muddies after playing out with a friend. Dan Capilla, 43, says he last saw his son at 4pm on Thursday when Mylo called in with a pal to say hello and heartbreakingly gave his dad a big hug. “He just called in to say hi with his friend while they were playing out. He gave me a big hug and said ‘love you’ and was playing with the dog. Then he left”, says Dan.
It was five hours later that Dan got the call that Mylo was missing. He told Teesside Live: “I was completely shocked. I just kept, and keep, tearing up.”
Dan, a design engineer, was alerted to the 13-year-old’s disappearance shortly after 9pm on Thursday, June 26, after Mylo’s mum – who he is separated from – raised the alarm.
The 43-year-old says news of his son’s disappearance has made him feel “numb” and “helpless” with the dad taking part in desperate efforts to find Mylo.
Mylo’s black Carrera bike, black jacket and iphone were found in the area of the grassland towards Copper Gardens, said Dan. “I feel numb, I feel helpless, says Dan. He adds: “I’ve just been walking around again there searching – I just don’t know what to do.”
Dan thanked members of the public who have taken part in the large search effort and praised the emergency services response as “amazing”.
Calling his song a “caring boy” he said his son’s disapperance is “completely out of character”.
Dan says: “Mylo is just a really loving, caring boy,” Dan said. “He’s always happy and wants to make people laugh. He would never just go missing or hide – this is completely out of character.”
Five ambulances, a specialist Water Rescue Unit, mountain rescue crews, police officers and search dogs rushed to the scene at Ramsey Gardens yesterday evening.
A large emergency service presence has remained in the area throughout the night with groups of residents also out searching for the missing lad.
The housing estate, near the River Tees, has since been cordoned off as 999 teams continue to search for the young boy into the early hours of this morning.
Police dogs were also released onto the Muddies, the police helicopter and drones were flying above and Dan says even the RAF were called out.
