Jack Draper on Novak Djokovic collision course as Brit dealt cruel Wimbledon draw | Tennis | Sport

Jack Draper is on a Wimbledon quarter-final collision course with seven-time champion Novak Djokovic after today’s draw. But his French Open conqueror Alexander Bublik first lies in wait for the British No.1 in the third round.

And Serbian superstar Djokovic is set to play the winner of the opening round Battle of Britain between wildcards Dan Evans and Jay Clarke.

Draper is seeded No.4 and so avoided world No.1 Jannik Sinner and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz until the semi-finals.

The world No.4 has instead been given the most difficult challenge in the last eight against Djokovic who is on a mission to win a record 25th Grand Slam title. The No.6 seed starts his campaign against Frenchman Alexandre Muller.

Draper will start his campaign against Argentine world No.38 Sebastian Baez. He would then play the winner of the opening tie between former US Open winner Marin Cilic and Belgium’s Raphael Collignon.

Then the dangerous Bublik, who recently won the title on the grass in Halle after reaching the French Open quarter-finals, is the No.28 seed.

Wildcard Johannus Monday will play last year’s Queens’s Club winner Tommy Paul while Jack Pinnington Jones faces Tomas Etcheverry. Henry Searle faces American Ethan Quinn while Billy Harris takes on Hubert Hurkacz – the Pole who beat Roger Federer in the Swiss superstar’s final match at Wimbledon

Jacob Fearnley will face Brazilian teenage sensation Joao Fonseca while Cam Norrie will take on Spanish veteran Roberto Bautista Agut.

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz takes on Italian firebrand Fabio Fognini in the first match on Centre Court on Monday. Qualifier Oliver Tarvet will play the winner if he overcomes Swiss Leandro Riedi who beat Scotland’s Hamish Stewart in the final round of qualifying yesterday.
