Hearing your favourite song as you walk into a venue and capturing a spontaneous group photo that actually looks good are among the most underrated highlights of a night out, according to new research.
A poll of party-loving Brits also found that seeing someone unexpectedly pull off impressive dance moves and sharing cheesy chips at the end of the night rank high on the list of simple pleasures. However, nothing kills the vibe faster than long queues to get into bars or clubs, friendship group drama, or being forced to pay for an overpriced taxi home. The study also revealed that 31 per cent of Gen Z hate forgetting their ID and being turned away at the door.
The research was commissioned by cult cocktail brand Buzzballz to mark the launch of its new ‘BallzMobilez’ in Clapham, London, where passersby were treated to free samples of ready-made cocktails and encouraged to celebrate the often-overlooked moments that make a night out memorable.
A spokesperson for Buzzballz said: “Every night out is different, which is why we love them, and the best ones are spontaneous. When putting on your glad rags, you never know what is in store for you and that’s the beauty of a night out.”
For most people, the real excitement begins once everyone arrives at the venue, but for 13 per cent, the best part is the buzz of getting ready together at a friend’s place.
In fact, three out of four people like to kick things off with a drink before leaving the house, making pre-drinks the unofficial start to the evening.
Among Gen Z, 40 per cent say a pit stop at an off-licence between pre-drinks and hitting the bar adds extra fun, with ready-to-drink cocktails a popular choice during these “in-between” moments.
The study, conducted via OnePoll, found that 35 per cent of respondents prefer a spontaneous night out, and 38 per cent believe random moments make the evening more memorable. However, 41 per cent admitted that being too cold or wet would put a damper on their fun.
A Buzzballz spokesperson, ahead of the BallzMobilez appearance at Clapham Junction this Saturday from 2pm, added: “Spontaneous nights out are sometimes some of the best, and let’s be real, half the night is spent getting to the good bit.
“It’s important to keep the good times rolling, even if you’re not quite at the party…yet.”
