Coleslaw is the ideal accompaniment to BBQ burgers, fried chicken, sandwiches and even pizza. One food expert at Kitchen Sanctuary said: “There’s no need to buy a big tub of coleslaw with an annoyingly short expiration date. “[Especially] when you can whip up a perfect sized batch of homemade coleslaw in five minutes.”
While many would recommend adding yoghurt to the mixture, the foodie has swapped out yoghurt for another ingredient. Instead of adding yoghurt to make the coleslaw, it’s recommended to use sour cream for the “best” creamy coleslaw you would ever taste.
Coleslaw
Ingredients
One medium white cabbage
Two medium carrots, peeled
Quarter brown onion, peeled
240g mayonnaise
Three tbsp sour cream
One tbsp white wine vinegar
Half tsp salt
Two tsp sugar
One-eight tsp mustard powder
Pinch of white pepper
Method
In a tutorial video posted to YouTube, the home cook demonstrated how to make the “delicious” coleslaw.
First, slice the cabbage, carrots and onion into thin strips (either with a mandolin or a sharp knife), then add into a large bowl.
Next, add the creamy ingredients – mayonnaise and sour cream – into the bowl.
Then add in the white vinegar, salt, sugar, mustard powder, and white pepper. Stir everything together. Now serve.
Followers of the recipe have gone onto the social media platform to praise the coleslaw.
One simple said that the coleslaw “turned out amazing” and is “way better than store-bought [coleslaw”.
Another added: “I made it today and totally loved it. It’s my new go-to coleslaw.”
Somebody else rebutted: “I made my own coleslaw; I just made it up as I went along. I don’t add any sugar. You don’t need it.”
