We all love a good cinema trip, and summer often presents some truly iconic moments in film. Only two years ago, on July 21st, we saw Barbenheimer, with the release of the Barbie movie and Christopher Nolan’s epic about the atomic bomb. That being said, this July is no different, being jam-packed full of summer blockbusters for you to choose from and perhaps a Marvel/DC Studios rivalry too. From Marvel madness to a recurring horror, what will you go and watch this month? Here are the top five releases coming to UK cinemas.

Jurassic World Rebirth July 2

Set five years after 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion, Rebirth follows a group of mercenaries and scientists who venture to a forbidden island with the hopes of retrieving dinosaur blood that could lead to a cure for heart disease. Zora Bennett leads the team of skilled operatives to the most dangerous place on Earth, but will they succeed?

Superman July 11

This Superman movie will be the second reboot of the film series, this time starring David Corenswet in the titular role. This time, Superman must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage alongside his human upbringing as Clark Kent, the reporter. He finds himself in an old-fashioned world where the embodiment of truth, justice and humanity are challenged. He decides to try and reconcile with his Kryptonian heritage with his adoptive human family in Smallville.

I Know What You Did Last Summer July 18

The fourth instalment in the franchise, I Know What You Did Last Summer’s synopsis reads: “When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. One year later, the past comes back to haunt them as they learn someone knows what they did last summer. Stalked by a mysterious killer, they soon seek help from two survivors of the legendary Southport massacre of 1997.”

Smurfs July 18

The Smurfs movie follows evil wizards Razamel and Gargamel as they take Papa Smurf, and the Smurfs have to embark on a mission to the real world to save him. With help from some new friends, they have to discover what defines their destiny in the hopes of being able to save the universe.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps July 25

Marvel’s most recent addition, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, has been highly anticipated, and it stars Pedro Pascal. The film’s synopsis reads: “Introduces Marvel’s First Family in a retro-futuristic 1960s world as they navigate their powers and family bond while facing the planet-devouring Galactus and his Herald, the Silver Surfer. The film will not be an origin story, but will feature flashbacks to provide context for their powers.”
