A source told The Mail on Sunday: “Harry has agreed that Invictus should extend an invitation to his family.

“Invictus hopes the Royal Family will come along to support the wounded veterans taking part.

They added: “The Royals have always been hugely supportive of Invictus and proud of what Harry has achieved in that arena. This is one olive branch from him, which might be reciprocated.”

The Duke will reportedly send an e-invitation this month, with a paper one following in the future.

However, the date of the sporting event will coincide with a major royal day, which will likely put the monarch in a predicament.

The Games will run from July 10-17, 2027, and their closing ceremony will be on the same day as Queen Camilla’s 78th birthday.

But despite the calendar clash, sources claimed the Duke is “hopeful” that his father will attend his passion project.

They said: “Harry is hopeful his father will set aside their differences to attend the Invictus Games and support veterans.”

The sources branded Harry’s next move as a major sign of the Duke’s wish to mend his strained relationship with the royals.

Harry said in his interview with the BBC back in May: “don’t know how much longer my father has – he won’t speak to me because of this security stuff but it would be nice to reconcile.”

He added that “some members of my family will never forgive me” for writing his memoir Spare, and went on to say: “It would be nice to have that reconciliation part now”.

The Duke said: “If they don’t want that, that’s entirely up to them.”
