Prince William is turning 43 today and is likely to be spoiled with love and gifts from his nearest and dearest. While his wife Princess Kate, 43, is no doubt set to make the day very special for William, along with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, there will one person William will miss today.
After the death of his mum the late Princess Diana in a tragic car crash in 1997, William has not hidden away from the fact that special occasions without her can be difficult. Over the years, the future King has also recalled how Diana would make certain occasions fun for both William and his brother Prince Harry, 40.
One of the ways she did this was by buying naughty gifts for her two young sons, which William once said he had to hide from teachers.
As reported by OK!. it is believed that Diana would spend hours shopping around for the funniest and most inappropriate gifts, including cards.
In the documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, Prince William touched on this and said that he wouldn’t open cards sent by Diana in front of teachers for this reason.
He said: “She was a massive card writer and she loved the rudest cards you could imagine. I would be at school and I’d get a card from my mother.
“Usually, she found something you know, very embarrassing, very funny card, and then sort of written very nice stuff inside.”
He continued: “But I didn’t open it in case teachers or anyone else in the class had seen it. She was very informal and really enjoyed the laughter and the fun.”
Over the years, numerous royal fans have taken to X to talk about how much William takes after his mother, both in looks and in their sense of humour.
