If you like X Files and Blacklist then latest free game giveaway is a must-have

If you’ve ever dreamed of being an FBI agent and solving crimes, then the latest Epic Games Store freebie is one for you.

A week after giving away Two Point Hospital for free, Epic Games is back with another excellent giveaway, as detective game The Operator joins the line-up.

Set in the 1990s, The Operator sees players investigate crimes at a desktop PC by taking calls, decrypting files and analysing evidence. It’s kind of like The X-Files meets The Blacklist.

In order to bag your free copy, simply visit the Epic Games Store, login to your account and click GET on The Operator store page.

Once you’ve added the game to your account, it’s yours to download and keep, no strings attached.

The Operator will be replaced by another game in less than a week, so make sure you act fast to avoid missing out.

Indeed, in its bid to compete with Steam as the number one PC gaming platform, Epic gives away at least one game for free every week.

The Operator is free from now until 4pm BST UK time on June 26, when it will be replaced by Sable.

As for The Operator, the popular detective game currently has a 92% rating on Steam.

“Time to clear your head, work through your hangover and start your first day as an Operator,” reads the official description.

“There are plenty of cases to solve. Assist our field agents using your computer console and ingenuity to bring criminals to justice. Ready to make the world a better place?

“When our field agents need support, they’ll call you. Help them by fact-checking, searching databases, identifying killers, and more. Each case will have evidence to evaluate, and it’s your job to dig into documents, connect the clues, and solve the mysteries.”
