Man Utd’s dream XI for opening day with Mbeumo transfer sealed | Football | Sport

Ruben Amorim is in the heart of orchestrating a major rebuild of his Manchester United ranks. The Portuguese boss made it no secret towards the end of last season that he would need to be backed in the transfer market, and his prayers look set to be answered.

The Red Devils are hoping to bolster their attacking ranks significantly, whilst defensive reinforcements are not being ruled out. Express Sport takes a look at how Amorim’s side could line up…

Goalkeeper: EMILIANO MARTINEZ

Andre Onana failed to convince last season and as such, a new No. 1 is on the shopping list at Old Trafford. Aston Villa’s Martinez is keen to make a move this summer and reports have claimed that the Argentine has already offered his services to the Red Devils.

Defence: Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, JARRAD BRANTHWAITE

Although United appear to have a host of talented defenders on their books already, if Everton decide that they will entertain offers for Branthwaite, then a fresh approach from the Red Devils cannot be ruled out. United pushed to sign the Englishman 12 months ago with offers in the region of £50million, and he could be a ready-made left-sided defender to slot into Amorim’s back three.

Midfield: Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, Manuel Ugarte, Patrick Dorgu

With Casemiro not getting any younger and Kobbie Mainoo facing an uncertain future, it would be no surprise if United eventually enter the market for another midfielder. However, with Diallo and Dorgu operating as wing-backs and Fernandes and Ugarte stalwarts in Amorim’s side, it is hard to see the quartet not starting United’s first game of the season.

Attack: BRYAN MBEUMO, HUGO EKITIKE, Matheus Cunha

The Red Devils have already welcomed Cunha to their ranks in a deal worth £62.5m from Wolves, and Mbeumo has quickly become their priority. United are hoping to see off the hijack attempt from Tottenham to secure the signature of the Cameroon international, though any deal would cost upwards of £60m.

Suitors have already started to circle for Rasmus Hojlund, and his exit could allow Amorim to cap off his transfer window with a new No. 9. United are said to be the only side to have held talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over Ekitike, and that could allow them to steal a march on Liverpool and Chelsea in the race to sign the French forward.
