Jet2 gives customers urgent warning to check 12 hours before every flight | UK | News

Holidaymakers are eager for a smooth getaway, yet last-minute alterations can wreak havoc on travel plans. Jet2 has issued an advisory to passengers to perform a crucial check 12 hours before their scheduled departure to avoid any complications. As the summer season approaches, with July and August marking the school holidays, airports are bracing for a surge in travellers seeking sunnier climes. Jet2 is urging customers to confirm any changes or updates by checking their website at least 12 hours before flying.

The airline’s Travel Information page, specifically the arrivals and departures section, advises: “Please check this section of the website at least 12 hours before your flight for the latest flight information.” By entering their flight number or route, customers can ensure they have the most current details regarding their journey. Travellers should aim to arrive at the airport no less than two hours prior to their flight, bearing in mind that check-in desks close 40 minutes before departure without exception, reports the Daily Record.

Operating from various UK bases, including Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports, Jet2 also cautions that flight adjustments may be necessary. They request that passengers keep them informed of any changes to their contact details, such as email addresses or mobile numbers.

They caution: “We always aim to operate our flights at the scheduled time of departure. However, sometimes we may need to make changes or provide alternative carriers or aircraft and cannot always notify you of this in advance. We may also alter or remove the planned schedules as shown on your booking confirmation.

“We do not wish to inconvenience customers, but unfortunately sometimes changes to scheduled flight times may be required for operational or technical reasons outside our control. If this happens, we always try to give you as much notice as possible. We’ll usually contact you by email or SMS text message, so please regularly check your inbox or mobile.” Tourists are being reminded to verify their passports at least a fortnight before travelling, or risk facing the disappointment of being denied boarding at the airport.

The Post Office has stressed on their website: “Some countries might ask that your passport’s valid for your whole time away and even a bit longer, sometimes up to six months. If you don’t check these rules, you could run into problems, like not being able to board your flight or being denied entry when you land.”

For those looking to secure their travel documents, applications for passports can be made through GOV.UK, with adult renewals or replacements costing £94.50 online and £107 for paper forms. Express services are available for travellers who find themselves in urgent need of a passport, though such options come at a premium.
