An old 49ers bromance needed only one season apart to pick up where it left off.

Nick Bosa and Dre Greenlaw are sharing a defense again after Greenlaw spent 2025 in Denver.

“Dre is my favorite teammate I’ve ever played with on the field,” Bosa said on 95.7 The Game. “To have him back is awesome. He wears his emotions on his sleeve, and you can feel the energy and the anger. When you play defense, it’s fun to be a part of.”

The 49ers drafted both players in 2019, beginning a six-season partnership defined by speed, physicality and a pair of trips to the Super Bowl.

That run paused when Greenlaw joined the Broncos last year, but his return restored one of the emotional engines of San Francisco’s defense.

Greenlaw made his own feelings clear before the opener, calling Bosa “one of your dogs” and saying his presence gave the entire group confidence.

The reunion immediately translated to the field. San Francisco opened the season by dismantling the Rams, 27-7, in Melbourne. Bosa, playing on a managed workload following knee surgery, recorded two tackles for loss and hit Matthew Stafford on the game’s first snap.

Greenlaw finished with six tackles and helped hold up Tyler Higbee long enough for Fred Warner to punch the ball loose during a decisive fourth-quarter sequence.

The revitalized 49ers defense limited the reigning MVP to 155 passing yards and did not permit another point after the second quarter.

For Bosa and Greenlaw, the brief separation seemingly reinforced what made their partnership work. Bosa supplies controlled destruction off the edge. Greenlaw delivers the emotion and “anger” behind him.

Their old bromance did not require introductions or an adjustment period.

One game into their reunion, it already looks as if the hiatus never happened.
