30p household staple ‘works wonders’ for cleaning driveways with no scrubbing required

There are several methods that are great for cleaning driveways, both with and without the use of a pressure washer.

1. Clean with a pressure washer

Property expert Gregory Smith at PriceYourJob.co.uk, said: “You should begin by removing all of the debris from the space.

“Use a stiff brush to remove loose dirt, leaves, or twigs from the driveway area. Next, you’ll need to connect the pressure washer to your home’s water supply.

“A pressure washer will use a lot of water at a very high force, so you will need a constant supply of water to get the job done.

“If you are using detergent with the pressure washer, add this now. Most pressure washers will allow you to add detergent, which sprays out with the water.”

If your pressure washer doesn’t have this option, spray some onto the driveway and leave for 10 minutes.

Change the settings to medium, the optimum setting for cleaning a driveway, and begin sweeping from back to front and then left to right.

This will ensure every inch of the driveway is covered for better cleaning.

The expert added: “Make sure the pressure washer is set to the wide fan setting, and keep the spraying angle at 45 degrees to achieve the most effective cleaning.”

Give the driveway lots of time to dry before unveiling a perfectly clean space.

2. Cleaning with white vinegar

The property pro continued: “White vinegar also works wonders for cleaning your driveway.

“Grab a bucket and mix a solution of one part water and one part white vinegar.

“If your driveway is particularly dirty or features some stubborn stains, you may need to use a solution with slightly more vinegar than water.”

Pour the solution over the entire driveway, several buckets may be needed to do this.

Leave the solution to work for around 30 minutes before using some buckets of clean water to rinse the solution away.

The expert noted: “Simply pour the buckets of clean water over your driveway, make sure to direct it to a drainage point.”

Using this solution requires no scrubbing, making it ideal for many people. White vinegar can be picked up for as little as 30p a bottle from most supermarkets.
