After six years of waiting, Hollow Knight Silksong is finally available on PlayStation 4 and PS5, Xbox consoles, PC, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
First announced back in 2019, Silksong is the sequel to 2017 Metroidvania game Hollow Knight. It was previously being developed as an expansion, but ended up becoming a standalone sequel.
The increased scope led to a much longer development cycle, to the point where some fans speculated that it had been cancelled.
Fortunately, however, this wasn’t the case, and after years in development, Hollow Knight Silksong is now available to purchase on consoles and PC.
Better yet, the game is actually cheaper than expected for fans living in the UK.
Developer Team Cherry previously confirmed that Silksong would cost $19.99 in the US and €19.99 in Europe. Needless to say, most people assumed that the game would cost £19.99 in the UK.
Fortunately, however, this isn’t the case, as Hollow Knight Silksong costs just £16.75 on Nintendo Switch (and Switch 2) and Steam, £16.74 on Xbox and only £15.99 on PS4 and PS5.
This feels like an absolute bargain for a title that could very well end up being voted game of the year for 2025.
It’s also worth pointing out that Xbox Game Pass subscribers can pick up the game for free as part of their subscription.
If you purchase the game on Nintendo Switch, the Switch 2 Edition is listed as a free upgrade if you eventually grab a Switch 2.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version features higher resolution visuals, improved frame-rates and “additional effects”.
Hollow Knight Silksong features over 200 enemies for players to battle, as well as over 40 different boss encounters.
The Hollow Knight sequel also takes place in a new land, and features a ton of new powers and abilities.
“Play as Hornet, princess-protector of Hallownest, and adventure through a whole new kingdom ruled by silk and song!” reads the official description.
“Captured and brought to this unfamiliar world, Hornet must battle foes and solve mysteries as she ascends on a deadly pilgrimage to the kingdom’s peak.”
