A 19-year-old woman was struck and killed by a garbage truck in Queens late Sunday night, according to police.
The young woman, identified by police as Nishath Jannath, was crossing 62nd Street at Roosevelt Avenue in Woodside when a sanitation truck operated by Royal Waste Services hit her in the crosswalk around 11:55 p.m.


The truck was traveling west on Roosevelt Avenue and made a right-hand turn onto the northbound lane of 62nd Street when it hit her on the north side of the intersection, cops said.
Jannath was declared dead at the scene by EMS.
The driver of the sanitation truck, a 38-year-old woman, remained at the scene and was treated for minor injuries.
No arrests have been made and the investigation by NYPD’s Highway District Collision Investigation Squad remains ongoing.
Royal Waste, which is based out of Jamaica, Queens, and boasts itself as the leading recycling company, in the city, did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
