Fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch, whose full name is Sophie Hinchliffe, have shared their simple solution for removing stains from shower screens.

The cleaning and lifestyle influencer has more than 4.8 million followers on Instagram and often shares her garden and home tips online.

Fans of hers have taken to social media in recent years to share their own hacks for solving common household problems.

In one such group, a person asked: “Hi all, does anyone have ideas on how to get stubborn stains off my shower door?

“I’m so annoyed about it as the shower is cleaned all the time and is squeegee’d down every time someone has a shower.

“I have tried everything and it’s still there any help is much appreciated.”

The post was inundated with responses with the most suggested response being to use Harpic Black toilet cleaner.

Paula Burton said: “Harpic Black toilet cleaner works. Give it a scrub and leave for five minutes then rinse. Cleaned mine perfectly.”

Nik Taylor replied: “Black Harpic on a cloth and wipe over the glass. Don’t get it on any chrome or brass, and rinse straight away.”

Black Harpic can be bought online or from most local supermarkets. Harpic PowerPlus Original costs £1.20 from Iceland, £1.30 from Asda and £1.85 from Sainsbury’s.

Other suggestions for removing the stains from shower glass included using Pink Stuff glass cleaner, washing up liquid, Viakal and white vinegar.

Lisa Brazier said: “Pink Stuff glass/window cleaner (my friend owns a cleaning company and swears by it).

“I’ve also used Pink Stuff paste to begin with to get off the old marks. Also, you could try bicarbonate of soda and a lemon cut in half and rub it into the screen. Leave to soak then rinse off.”

Lisa J Gray replied: “I use Fairy Liquid and then spray Elbow Grease and a good scrub.

“Rinse then window blade it dry. Usually takes it off. If not, then windscreen wash.”

Sandra Baum commented: “Is it limescale? Viakal or Kilrock will shift it. You’ll need to leave it on for a few minutes.”

Carla Quinn-lam posted: “Stardrops white vinegar. Use a sponge scourer then squeegee and dry off with an old rag/towel.”
