Lego Masters Australia’s successful first season came to an end on Tuesday night.

Yet throughout recent episodes, viewers have been distracted from the contestants’ creations by Hamish Blake’s surprising habit.

While presenting the program, the 37-year-old is regularly seen fiddling with his wedding ring, after happily marrying Zoë Foster Blake seven years ago.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday, body language expert Holly Bartter revealed the habit is most likely due to ‘nerves’ on set.

‘A wedding band is often an item of comfort, familiarity and fond memories – when this is the case, in a setting where one might feel nervous,’ said Holly.

‘It’s a habit that likely Hamish isn’t even noticing himself.’

Additionally, Holly, who is also the founder of Matchsmith, added that playing with the ring could help Hamish ‘focus’ while shooting.

She said: ‘A wedding band will immediately link Hamish back to his loved ones, so it’s a grounding item which also may help him to refocus while he shoots.’

A third possible explanation is simply that the ring is uncomfortable while filming.

Holly concluded: ‘Another even more simple reason is that under hot studio lights, Hamish’s ring might simply feel a little uncomfortable when his hands are warmer.

‘It’s likely he’s rearranging his ring without evening thinking about what he’s doing.’
