Who is Michaela Strachan?

Michaela, 51, was born in Surrey in 1966 and attended stage school as a youngster, where she loved singing and dancing.

As a teenager she enrolled in a musical theatre course and in 1985 landed a role in the musical 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, which played in the West End.

She also held down other jobs before making the move into TV, where her passion for animals and wildlife came in handy.

Michaela married in 1996 but divorced her film maker husband Duncan Chard five years later.

She’s now in a relationship with new partner Nick Chevallier, and the pair have a son called Oliver together – they now live in Cape Town in South Africa along with her partner’s children.

How did Michaela Strachan start out in TV?

Michaela landed her first presenting job in 1986 alongside Timmy Mallett on the Saturday morning kids TV show The Wide Awake Club and the pair also appeared on WACADAY.

She later appeared on the Hitman and Her with Pete Waterman before joining The Really Wild Show on BBC1, where she teamed up with Chris Packham.

After this Michaela became a well-known wildlife presenter and fronted shows such as Wildlife Rescue and Postcards From The Wild.

The mum-of-one has also featured on Countryfile and was a contestant on celebrity diving show Splaish in 2014.

What TV programmes does Michaela Strachan now appear on?

Michaela has now paired up with Chris Packham once again to appear on the BBC shows Springwatch, Autumnwatch and Winterwatch.

She was drafted into the show after replacing Kate Humble who left to pursue other projects.

In the latest edition, she has appeared in the Springwatch special, where the team travelled to Japan.

There she learned about the country’s famous cherry blossom and wildlife.
