When Is Pride London 2018? Lgbt Parade Details, Key Events And Festival Dates


PRIDE first came to London in 1972 and has been a staple of the capital ever since.

But what is Pride London, where does it take place and what is it all in aid of? Here is the lowdown on this year’s event…

What is Pride London?

Pride is an annual celebration of the LGBT+ community (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, questioning, intersex, non-binary, asexual polysexual, genderqueer and gender variant people) held in London.

It is the biggest LGBT+ parade in the UK, with thousands of people travelling the route either by foot or on floats.

Last year’s parade pulled in an estimated crowd of nearly a million people.

Where is the Pride parade?

The the 2018 London Parade will take place on Saturday 7 July, likely starting between 12pm and 4.30pm.

This year’s map hasn’t been released yet but last year, the parade started on Portland Place, in Oxford Circus, and ran from the BBC’s Broadcasting House down to Whitehall.

Many busy roads are likely to be partially or fully closed while the parade passes through.

Last year, these included Regent Street, Pall Mall, Pall Mall East, Cockspur Street and Whitehall.

When is Pride London?

The month-long Pride in London celebrations kicked off on June 9 and culminate in the city-wide parade on July 7.

As always, it is showcasing the very best of London with theatre and cabaret shows, tours, exhibitions, conferences and museum events.

This year’s events include Pride escape rooms, self defence classes, LGBT+ ping pong, life drawing  dance classes and the highly-anticipated Pride’s Got Talent competition.

The talent show gives new and emerging talent in the LGBT+ community the chance to perform onstage at Pride In London.

Pop star Sinitta will be this year’s Pride’s Got Talent Godmother while judging duties will fall to actress Mzz Kimberley and Pride in London producer Tom Knight.

A number of companies also register to walk the parade route, this year representatives from the likes of Barclays, Aviva and even the Houses of Parliament will join the celebrations
