Wetherspoon has revealed plans for a new meal deal starting at £3 in a move which rivals offers at Tesco and Sainsbury’s. The pub chain giant is offering punters a range of discounted food and drink options from June 23. Wetherspoon’s founder and chairman, Tim Martin, said: “We believe customers will welcome the pubs’ new and existing value-for-money club deals.”
A new small plates deal on Mondays will offer any three for £10 from a choice of 20 small-plate dishes—around £3 per plate. The cost will be £12 at some pubs. Dishes include 10 spicy chicken wings, halloumi-style fries, and 8-inch Margherita pizzas.
Customers can also choose from more than 50 lower-priced drinks, including draught beers, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks as part of Wetherspoons’ Monday Club promotion.
Ale Wednesday becomes Ale Monday to Wednesday, with lower prices on guest ales, under the changes.
A new Tuesday Club offers a beer and a burger for £9.99. A gourmet burger range features in the offer, including The Big Smoke, Buffalo and cheese meltdown.
The gourmet burgers are served with chips, six beer-battered onion rings and a choice from more than 150 drinks as part of the price.
This deal is available from £8.46, with a soft drink, and from £9.99, with alcohol.
On Wednesdays, pubs that serve pizza are offering a new Pizza Club, with all 11-inch pizza choices available.
These include spicy chicken, pepperoni, BBQ chicken and roasted vegetable as well as a choice from over 150 drinks included in the price.
The Pizza Club price is from £6.96 with a soft drink and from £8.49 with an alcoholic drink.
On Thursdays, Curry Club offers all classic curries, served with two poppadums, a naan bread and a drink as part of the price.
It costs from £8.46 with a soft drink and from £9.99 with an alcoholic drink. This deal is available at more than 580 pubs.
Wetherspoon’s Afternoon Deal promotion, which runs from Monday to Friday, 2pm – 5pm, is also still available. It offers pub classic meals at a lower price, with a drink also included in each meal.
Tesco’s meal deal range offer at the time of writing is between £3.60 and £5 for Clubcard members. Sainsbury’s latest Nectar price meal deals, as shown on the supermarket giant’s website, range in price from £3 to £12.
