By the time they burst into the home he had sneaked down the bolthole and got outside.

Police checked the property and found a square hole that had been cut out of the floorboards.

The fugitive was still at large last night following his crafty getaway.

West Yorkshire Police Leeds West team told about his escape on Saturday — and vowed to get even with him.

Writing on their Twitter handle, they said: “Bolthole — that’s one way to do it.

“Wanted, male who refused to answer the door then dropped into his DIY escape route.

“1-0 to him, but we will arrange a rematch soon.” It is not known why the man is wanted by the force.
