A stunning book shop in the UK has been hailed as the most beautiful and magical in the UK – and people are surprised by where it is.

If you are a book superfan, looking for a stunning work space, or wanting to find a new hidden gem to explore, this incredible Waterstones store is like no other. Although it is a book shop, it looks more like a museum.

The 19th century Victorian building has grand polished stone pillars and boasts an arched ceiling supported by wooden beams and there are many original features. Customers can browse a wide selection of books or admire the architecture from the mezzanine floor seven days a week.

Plus there is a coffee shop serving up a range of treats. The building, located in Bradford, Yorkshire, was once used for trading wool up to the 1960s. Visit Bradford said: “We offer a wide choice of titles, great value and expert advice from a dedicated and passionate team of booksellers. You will also find a wide range of stationery, greetings cards, gifts, games and toys.

“On the mezzanine floor you can sit in our Café W, with a coffee, cake and book and admire the architecture of both the shop and the city.”

One book lover recently shared online that they travelled two hours to visit the Bradford book shop and said it was “totally worth it”.

The individual shared a video, via her page @victoriaslittlelibrary, which raked in over two million views on TikTok,and said it “truly felt like walking into Hogwarts”.

She got a popcorn iced latte, spent some time reading, and enjoyed the “pure bliss” surroundings. She shared clips showing the inside of the book store and said: “Come with us to visit the most beautiful book store in the UK.”

Commenting on the video, one individual said: “I’m so glad this is literally on my doorstep. I fell in love with this Waterstones the minute I went inside.” One other commented: “I love Bradford Waterstones. It’s beautiful.”

Another Bradford residence said: “No Waterstones can compare to ours. It’s our pride and joy.” “I work in the cafe and it’s honestly the best building,” added another.

Another shared: “Bradford Waterstones got me through my degree.” Another agreed and said: “Bradford Waterstones was the only reason I tolerated going to university there.”

One individual gobsmacked by its location, said: “No way this is in Bradford I thought it was in Edinburgh or something.” ” Bradford Waterstones is what redeems Bradford city,” insisted one other.

“This is the place I go when I want to forget I live in Bradford,” agreed another. One other observed: “Bradford isn’t a great place, but it sure does have great architecture. It’s why Little Germany & other areas of the city are used for film sets.”

“Only good thing about Bradford,” added another.

How to get to the book shop

If you are travelling from out of town, you can easily get a train to Bradford and then walk four minutes to the book shop.

If you are driving, follow a route to the postcode BD1 1LB. The nearest bus station to Waterstones in Bradford is St Margarets Road. It is a one min walk away.
