Tourist who has visited 100 cities in Europe names the 7 most underrated | Travel News | Travel

After exploring over 100 cities across Europe, popular travel content creator Lukepatricktravelstories has shared his personal list of the continent’s seven most underrated cities, with hidden gems that are often overlooked in favour of big names like Paris, Rome, or Berlin.

In a post that’s gaining traction on social media, Luke highlights cities that offer a unique mix of culture, affordability, nightlife, and charm, without the crowds or prices of more famous destinations.

Here’s his curated list of underrated European treasures:

1. Riga, Latvia

Described by Luke as “one of the best student cities in Europe,” Riga impresses with its blend of Gothic architecture, Art Nouveau streets, and vibrant youth culture.

It’s also one of the most affordable capitals in the EU, making it perfect for travelers on a budget.

2. Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

“A city full of history and incredible people,” said Luke.

Sarajevo is a cultural mosaic where Ottoman mosques sit beside Austro-Hungarian buildings. Still healing from its war-torn past, it offers a moving experience steeped in resilience and hospitality.

3. Belgrade, Serbia

Known for its dynamic nightlife, Belgrade takes the crown for Europe’s best party scene in Luke’s book. But beyond the clubs, he praised its surprising cleanliness, safety, and friendly locals.

“It’s the city that never sleeps, but always welcomes,” he added.

4. Bratislava, Slovakia

Calling it a “green and peaceful paradise,” Luke compared Bratislava to a real-life fairy tale.

With its castle overlooking the Danube and tranquil old town, it’s a haven for slow travel and scenic walks.

5. Brno, Czech Republic

“Czechia is not only Prague,” Luke said.

Brno, the country’s second-largest city, has emerged as a hub for contemporary art and cutting-edge design. It’s youthful, innovative, and refreshingly uncrowded.

6. Bucharest, Romania

A city of contrasts, Bucharest is where neoclassical palaces meet communist-era blocks, and ultra-modern nightlife.

Luke recommended it for those seeking both history and world-class clubbing. “An amazing mix of modern and traditional,” he notes.

7. Wroclaw, Poland

Topping off the list is Wroclaw, which Luke called one of his “overall favourite cities in Europe.”

With its colourful market square, whimsical dwarf statues, and riverside cafes, Wroclaw offers charm without the tourist overload. “Visit before too many people discover it,” he added.
