Fortunately, the UK has plenty of stunning destinations perfect for a staycation, and it is even better that many of them are dog-friendly, allowing your your furry friends to be free and enjoy a break from home just as regular holidaymakers do.
Cornwall is a popular spot for Brits during the summer. The beautiful county is home to stunning sandy beaches, breathtaking landscapes, and impressive cultural heritage. It is no wonder that it welcomes over four million overnight visitors and 14 million day-trippers every year.
It is also a great place for pups too, as the holiday hotspot is home to many dog friendly coastal spots including this pretty hidden cove that is perfect for a dog walk.
Nanjizal Beach , often branded as one of the best beaches in the country, sits just to the south of Land’s End in Cornwall’s far west and is recommended by Lotti Gross in her book Dog Days Out.
She writes: “Nanjizal is well worth the walk. It’s all about drama and geology here, with towering cliffs, vast sea caves and enchanting rockpools.”
The travel writer also recommended a stay at the Artist Residence Penzance, describing in it as “both creatively quirky and homely all at once”.
The beach’s remote location means it is never gets busy and has remained more or less untouched, but do not let its rurality make you question it. Nanjizl Beach rated an impressive 4.6 out of five stars on Tripadvisor and is loved especially by walkers, who are often joined by their four-legged friends.
One visitor said: “A stunning view on the walk down to Nanjizel beach made the trek (at least 20min ) worth it. It is very rocky with wooden steps down. If you are unstable walking, this is not for you. Our dogs loved it and we had a paddle (only because we did not take our cossies).”
Another wrote: “Amazing beach! Dogs friendly. The view for ocean is breathtaking! Everywhere beautiful rocks and stones. When is beautiful weather it looks amazing, nearly like Seychelles and its England… can’t believe! Water is turquose. Worth to see it!”
