Bradley Walsh, 59, returned to host The Chase this evening as four contestants tried their best to beat the Chaser and take home the jackpot prize.
Damien, 45, Kayleigh, 27, Penny, 74, and Ross, 35 were welcomed onto today’s edition of the ITV quiz show show alongside Chaser Anne Hegerty, 60.
The first contestant got the team off to a great start by earning £9,000 in the cash builder round and going on to secure his spot in the final by beating Anne.
Continuing the winning streak, Kayleigh added £6,000 to the jackpot and joined Damien in the Final Chase.
However, during the third contestant’s head-to-head round, Anne ended up snapping at Bradley when he took a cheeky swipe at her.
After earning £7,000 in the cash builder round, it was Penny’s turn to face Anne as the pair answered a series of multiple choice questions.
One question Bradley asked referred to the Shakespeare play ’Twelfth Night’ leading Penny to admit she wasn’t a fan of the playwright.
Bradley agreed, but the revelation didn’t impress The Governess who remarked: “I’m just sat here feeling depressed because there are two people down the bottom that don’t get Shakespeare.”
Anne went on to describe a scene from the play where two characters are “slightly drunk” and the pair are discussing whether they have stayed up late or whether they are simply up early.
Taking a swipe at Anne’s outburst, Bradley sarcastically remarked: “Yes and that is hysterical…”

Hitting back, Anne snapped: “Oh, shut up!” before the presenter continued on with the ITV quiz show.
Penny secured her spot in the final, leaving the total amount in the prize fund up to the final contestant.
Following on from his team mates, Ross had a successful cash builder round earning £9,000, just like the first contestant had.
Ross comfortably made his way back to the team as viewers watching took to Twitter to praise the team’s impressive performance.
One wrote: “This team is seriously good #thechase,” and a second added: “Great contestants #TheChase.”
Another said: “This must be the best group of cashbuilders in the history of the show #TheChase.”
“What a team! And not one of them went high. #TheChase,” tweeted a fourth.
“#TheChase best contestants I’ve seen for ages,” remarked a fifth.
However, their luck eventually ran out in the Final Chase when they were beaten by Anne with less than 20 seconds to spare.
Meanwhile, viewers were left in turmoil over one contestant’s bizarre habit earlier in the week.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV
