The beautiful seaside village named ‘poshest place to live’ | UK | Travel

From picturesque cottages and meandering roads to charming pubs, the UK countryside is dotted with stunning villages, with the potential for a beautiful staycation in every corner of the country. However, a list of the 48 of the UK’s “poshest” villages has now been unveiled. In addition to property prices, experts considered factors such as commute times, overall aesthetic appeal, and proximity to shops, pubs, and restaurants.

As expected, these upscale locales command hefty price tags. For instance, Harpsden in Oxfordshire and West Itchenor in Sussex boast average house prices of around £1.4 million – a staggering six times the national average, according to the Telegraph.

One of the poshest Home County villages is Walberswick in Suffolk, a seaside village neighbouring Southwold. According to Rightmove, last year, properties sold there for an average of £1.5 million, while semi-detached homes fetched around £1.2 million and detached properties commanded £2 million.

This idyllic corner of the UK, renowned for its pristine beaches and delightful coastal walks, is famed for its crabbing, quiet, untouched beaches, and picturesque marshes, and is a truly enchanting destination.

The charming coastal village of Walberswick is a haven of sandy dunes, scenic marshes and tranquil walking routes. It’s renowned for its crabbing activities, drawing families eager to reel in the largest crabs from its wooden bridges.

The village’s rich history is evident in the ruins of St. Andrew’s Church and the quaint thatched cottages that contribute to its unique character. A short distance away lies the historic town of Southwold, famed for its vibrant beach huts, pier, and the Adnams Brewery.

A mere 15-minute car journey separates Walberswick from Southwold, making it an easy excursion. However, there’s a more thrilling mode of transport available.

The optimal way to reach Southwold is via the rowing-boat ferry across the River Blyth, a service that has been operated by the same family for five generations. Once a fishing village, Walberswick has recently become a favourite spot for walkers and birdwatchers.

Walberswick Beach is a must-see attraction in the area. One visitor shared on Tripadvisor: “There’s something about this area I just love. “It’s peaceful, uncomplicated and clean.

“Very very British traditional. I love the place.

“Another visitor commented: “A good spot for an evening stroll, we often come for a picnic on a summer evening as it’s just a pleasant, relaxing spot. “The village itself is unspoilt with a few quaint shops and a couple of good pubs. Lovely for couples.

” A visit to Southwold wouldn’t be complete without a stroll along the pier – its picture-perfect setting encapsulates the quintessential charm of an English seaside town. One satisfied visitor shared their experience on Tripadvisor, enthusing: “An absolutely fabulous place.

“Terrific flavoured ice creams and definitely value for money!Five stars and will definitely be back again! “.
