Terry Bradshaw and Michael Strahan clashed over whether the resurgent Kansas City Chiefs will claim the AFC West title. During FOX NFL Sunday, the pair debated the Chiefs’ prospects following their impressive recent form. This comes after the four-time Super Bowl champion previously suggested Jonathan Taylor’s MVP campaign could be hindered by his own quarterback, Daniel Jones.
Kansas City have been performing exceptionally well of late. Following a 2-3 start after their Monday Night Football defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Chiefs have rattled off three consecutive victories and are establishing themselves as genuine contenders for a strong finish to the season.
Across their previous two matches against the Las Vegas Raiders and the Washington Commanders, Kansas City have racked up 59 points whilst conceding merely seven. The attack is functioning smoothly around Patrick Mahomes, whilst the defence has equally discovered its rhythm.
Nevertheless, securing the division title could prove more challenging than in recent campaigns. The Denver Broncos currently enjoy a one-game advantage at the summit of the AFC West, sporting a 6-2 record and having triumphed in each of their previous five fixtures.
Sean Payton’s side reached the playoffs last term, and the Broncos are determined to progress further this time in Bo Nix’s second season. Denver looks like a formidable outfit and are yet to face the Chiefs at Mile High and at Arrowhead.
When pressed on his prediction for the AFC West winner, Bradshaw declared: “Chiefs! I’ll say it. I think the Chiefs are on a roll. They got all their guys back..”
“Yeah, but Denver’s on a roll too!” interrupted Strahan. “I’m sticking with Denver. They’re not as consistent- I don’t trust them as much as I trust Kansas City, but at the same time, they haven’t done anything to make me lost faith in the fact they’re gonna do it.”
Whilst Strahan was speaking, Bradshaw added: “They’re not as consistent, I don’t think.”
Bradshaw evidently isn’t prepared to dismiss Mahomes, who would draw level with the Pittsburgh Steelers icon should he secure a fourth Super Bowl triumph before his career concludes.
Meanwhile, Strahan perhaps favours the formidable Denver defence, given his own playing days disrupting opposing offences.
Both the Broncos and Chiefs experienced a challenging beginning to the campaign before finding their rhythm in recent weeks. Alongside the Los Angeles Chargers, who defeated the Chiefs in Brazil during the season opener, a three-way battle for the AFC West crown appears to be unfolding in 2025.
The Broncos meet the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium in Week 9, whilst the Chiefs head to Highmark Stadium to face Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills later on Sunday, November 2.
