Royal fans were furious after one of Prince Harry’s pals tagged his now-defunct Sussex Royal account on social media to thank him. Tattoo artist Joshua Lord took to his Instagram account this week to reveal a letter the Duke of Sussex sent him last year, after he visited his tattoo parlour in New York to film a sketch for the Invictus Games back in February.
Harry visited East Side Ink last September, which sparked speculation about the nature of his visit, which two months later turned out to be a promotion for the Games in Canada. Mr Lord shared a picture of the letter, along with new pictures of the Duke visiting the parlour.
But in his caption, he tagged the now-defunct @sussexroyal handle, which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex used when they were still working royals and. This did not go down well with fans.
He wrote: Mr Lord said in his caption: “Lord, Prince, and Jelly. Plus @brows.by.jen and @farmhandtattoo @jellyroll615 and @sussexroyal at @eastsideinktattoo for @weareinvictusgames ALSO my Royal ‘Thank You’ letter naming me as the Skillful(sic) Dodger, which is a pretty good nickname, really.”
Users took to the comment section to complain, with one fan saying: “Please kindly remove the Sussex royal tag. You cannot be tagging it as it belongs to the Crown. It is no longer accessible to Harry and Markle.”
A second one added: “Harry Markle can’t use that handle as he is not royal after his freedom flight.”
A third one agreed: “It’s true, whether you like it or not, with all due respect. That account belongs to the Crown and Harry has lost access to it the moment he left the Institution. They are not allowed to use that account as it no longer belongs to them. Why don’t you tag Markle instead?”
A fourth one commented: “Ah oh kindly remove the tag of Sussex royal they aren’t representing any royal . Nor the sussex county. They are exiled and normal people give them privacy they want!”
A fifth one asked: “Why is Sussex Royal being tagged? They are no longer working royals. There is no ‘Prince’ in America.”
A sixth one raged: “Why are u tagging sussex royal?? Just remove the tag and respect the crown!!! Respect the queen Elizabeth!!”
