The British Royal Family may be well known for their balcony appearances and annual celebratory events, but on a daily basis the royals are hard at work too. Whether they are hosting receptions, opening hospitals or visiting charities, the royals are often seen out and about on various royal visits.
While not all royals do the same number of engagements and visits each year, Princess Anne, 74, tends to be the most busy royal, and is often dubbed the most hard-working. However, she may face some tough competition this year.
This is because so far this year, King Charles has carried out the most royal engagements, even more than his sister Anne.
According to Write Royalty, the monarch, 76, has done one quarter of all royal engagements from the start of 2025 until the end of May.
He completed nearly 260 engagements out of a grand total of 1,100 from the start of the year to May 31, Write Royalty reports.
While many may think nothing of this, especially as the monarch is head of the Royal Family, this is significant for the King as he is continuing to undergo cancer treatment following his diagnosis last year.
For royal fans, the fact he is working throughout his treatment may not come as a surprise, as the King – like his sister The Princess Royal – has a strong work ethic and enjoys what he does.
It is believed the monarch often works late into the evening, and struggles to slow down even when doctors advise him to.
Speaking to UK newspapers in Rome earlier this year, Queen Camilla said: “He (Charles) loves his work and it keeps him going.
“And I think it’s wonderful, you know, if you’ve been ill and you are recovering, you’re getting better and now he wants to do more and more and more. That’s the problem. That’s what he’s driven by. Helping others.”
