After the arrival of her ‘perfect’ baby daughter Athena last month, Princess Beatrice “may have reached out to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle”, an expert has claimed.
Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi welcomed their second daughter on January 22 at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. Her birth was publicly announced one week later, on January 29.
Their newborn, named Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, was born prematurely, weighing just 4lb 5oz.
Beatrice, as well as her sister Princess Eugenie, are known to have been close to the Duke of Sussex even after his fall out with other royals and his decision to quit the Firm in 2020 alongside his wife.
While the Sussexes have yet to publicly respond to Beatrice’s newborn baby bliss, an expert believes the princess may have reached out to the couple, who currently reside in California.
Jennie Bond, a former BBC royal correspondent, said Beatrice may have “pinged a picture of two [of Athena] to Harry and Meghan” after the birth.
Ms Bond told the Mirror: “I don’t think it will hasten a visit by them to the UK, but perhaps if charity work or business brings Harry this way he’ll be keen to meet his new cousin.
“This was lovely news. After the brutality of last year for so many of the Royal Family, 2025 is looking altogether brighter.”
Other royals who publicly shared their delight at the birth included Sarah Ferguson, Princess Eugenie, and the Princess of Wales’s brother, James Middleton.
As reported by The Sun, newborn Athena could be granted the Italian title of nobile donna through Edoardo.
Speaking to the publication, Edoardo’s father, Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, said: “Edoardo is the only male descendent taking the family into the next generation. He is a count, his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna.”
