Kate Middleton and Rose Hanbury are reported to have fallen out earlier this year.
The Duchess of Cambridge was said to have gone as far as to “ask William to phase Rose Hanbury out of their inner circle”, the Sun reported back in March.
Rose Hanbury, whose full name is Sarah Rose Hanbury, is a former-model. She married the Marquess in 2009 and has three children, Alexander, Oliver and Iris.
A body language expert analysed the body language of the three aristocrats.
Most recently we saw Rose Hanbury attend the State Dinner to welcome Donald Trump to the UK.
At the last state dinner she entered behind Kate Middleton, but at this event came in last, with Michael Gove’s wife.
Rose Hanbury wore a tiara for the State Dinner from her husband’s aristocratic family. It was the huge diamond encrusted Ancaster Heathcote Tiara.
Expert Judi James told Express.co.uk: “As a former fashion model Rose should have found this walk into the banquet for Trump a piece of cake but her raised hands form a barrier gesture while her fingers appear to be fiddling in front of her torso.
“Her lips are pursed here too and her eyes down, making her look less than relaxed and happy.”
But how did all three appear together before rumours of the falling out in June 2016?
Kate, Prince William, Rose and her husband David Cholmondeley, Marquess of Cholmondeley, met at the Gala Dinner To Support East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices’ Nook Appeal in King’s Lynn.
The expert told Express.co.uk Rose looked “less assured”, while Kate seemed comfortable and friend.
“While William seems to look away in the background, Kate performs some ‘add-on’ gestures to suggest she wants to look friendly here, Judi explained, looking at the images.
“She leans her head in towards Rose as they speak and her brows are raised to suggest engagement.
“Her wide, upturned smile involves some dimples at the sides of her mouth and she uses eye contact to show undivided attention.”
On the other hand, Rose did not seem as confident.
“There’s little history to compare Rose’s body language here to her normal style but she looks less assured than Kate here, with her chin pulled in as she smiles and less congruence from the eye expression. With her left hand raised palm-up in a cupping gesture and the other seeming to fiddle with her cuff that suggests a partial barrier ritual.
“This pose suggests a rather wilting-looking Rose as she stands staring ahead with her lips pursed in a rather dour-looking facial expression. Kate and William both seem to regard her here, with Kate using some very confident-looking sideways eye contact and – again – that dimpled, happy-looking smile.”
When meeting, the two men – Prince William and the Marquess – seemed somewhat amicable too.
Judi said: “In the background the men have an even larger spatial gap between them but William also seems to want to show signals of friendship, leaning in with a beaming smile as he performs an open, firm-looking clasp in the shake.
“Rose’s husband adopts a more submissive pose here with his head slightly lowered and his eyes looking down.”
How did Kate Middleton become a royal?
Kate Middleton, or Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, was born on 9 January 1982 at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, England.
She was born to Michael and Carole Middleton, a former flight dispatcher and air hostess. The couple founded a party supplies company, Party Pieces, in 1987 – now estimated to be worth £30 million.
Kate has a younger sister Pippa Matthews, 34, and a younger brother James Middleton, 31.
Kate and her family moved to Amman, Jordan, in 1984, where the future Duchess was educated at an English-speaking nursery school.
After moving back to Berkshire the family sent Kate to private school, St Andrews School. She went on to briefly study at Downe House before moving onto Marlborough College where she boarded.
For university the young Kate attended the University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. Here she was awarded an undergraduate MA (2:1 Hons) in history of art.
Relationship with Prince William
Kate met Prince William when they were both studying at St Andrews, and both living in St Salvator’s Hall. Famously, William reportedly took a fancy to Kate after she wore a see-through dress during a fashion show.
In 2003 the couple began dating and lived together during their second year of university.
The couple split in April 2007, however, in October they were back together.
Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with his late mother Princess Diana’s engagement ring in October 2010. The couple were holidaying in Kenya at the time.
On 29 April 2011 they married at Westminster Abbey with a whopping 26 million watching the event live.
Kate wore an Alexander McQueen dress worth a reported £250,000 on the big day.
Kate assumed the title “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge” and also become the Duchess of Cambridge on the day.
