The Princess of Wales will make a joint appearance alongside her husband Prince William next week to welcome Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani on a state visit to the UK. However, Royal fans will be disappointed to hear that Kate, 42, will not be donning a sparkly tiara as she will be missing out on the evening celebrations due to her gradual return to work.
At the start of the year, Princess Kate revealed that she was diagnosed with unspecified cancer. This forced her to step away from public duties as she battled the disease and received chemotherapy.
However, it was announced in September that she was cancer-free and would make a gradual return and carry out engagements on behalf of the Royal Family. Both Kate and William, 42, will take part in the carriage procession to Horse Guards Parade where the Emir will receive a ceremonial welcome before meeting the King and Queen.
The Princess will only be involved in the daytime elements. Kensington Palace confirmed that Princess Kate will not attend the State Banquet which will be held in the evening (December 3).
Although, Prince William will accompany King Charles and Queen Camilla. State banquets are usually one of the very few white-tie events the royals attend, so it is unlikely the Princess will step out in a tiara until next year.
This comes after Princess Kate missed out on this year’s diplomatic reception, which is a yearly event hosted by the royals at Buckingham Palace.
They welcome members of the Diplomatic Corp which is one of the most anticipated royal events of the year.
It has a huge guest list of around 1,000 people including includes ambassadors, high commissioners, past Prime Ministers, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, and other public figures.
William made a solo appearance at the soiree alongside Charles, 76, and Camilla 77.
The Queen wore a stunning blue velvet evening gown by Fiona Clare and made her debut in the late Queen Elizabeth II’s small aquamarine and diamond tiara.
It has been reported that it is worth an eye-watering £1million and features diamonds that graduate in size, weighing 18 carats in total.
Meanwhile, there is also a matching necklace that Duchess Sophie has also previously worn alongside the headpiece, which is also worth approximately £500,000.
Since marrying William in 2011 at Westminste Abbey, Kate has worn four tiaras from the royal family’s jewellery collection.
She wowed royal fans when she wore the Cartier Halo, the Lotus Flower, the Lover’s Knot and the Strathmore Rose tiaras – which has also been dubbed as the ‘forgotten’.
