Shocked passengers find a homemade BOMB at a Perth train station – as police arrest a 45-year-old man

  • Member of the public found the item and reported it after the man boarded train
  • Man was arrested in Northbridge and will appear at Perth Magistrates Court

A man has been arrested after a shocked passenger found a homemade bomb at a train station in Perth. 

A 45-year-old man allegedly left the IED at the Currambine train station at 4.15pm prior to boarding the train on Thursday. 

A member of the public found it and reported it to Transit Officers who contacted police.

Police have identified the item as an ‘improvised explosive device of low sophistication and a with minimal impact area.’ 

The man was arrested in Northbridge at 5.20pm on Friday and charged with possession of explosives, possess a prohibited drug and carried an article with intent to cause fear. 

He will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday.
