Nintendo Switch 2 will solve problem that plagued the PS5 at launch

Nintendo fans will be pleased to hear that the company is taking extra care to avoid stock shortages at launch.

The original Switch was hard to come by when it released back in 2017, while the PS5 was absolutely plagued by stock shortages for almost an entire year after launch.

To make matters worse, PS5 consoles were often snapped up by scalpers and resold at a higher cost.

Fortunately, however, the Nintendo Switch 2 looks like it could avoid similar problems when it launches in either May or June this year.

In an interview with Nikkei (via VGC), Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said that the company is taking measures to prevent similar stock issues with the Switch 2.

Speaking about scalpers and resellers, Furukawa said: “We will take all possible measures based on the experience we have accumulated to date. We are making preparations.”

In fact, according to a previous report by Nikkei, one of the measures taken by Nintendo was to delay the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 until 2025.

The Switch 2 was reportedly pencilled in for a late 2024 launch, but was delayed to ensure more stock and a superior launch line-up of games.

Judging by some of the latest reports, the Nintendo Switch 2 launch line-up could be one of the best ever.

Games like Mario Kart 9, Metroid Prime 4 and a mysterious Legend of Zelda remaster are all tipped for launch, alongside third-party games like Doom The Dark Ages, Metaphor ReFantazio, Marvel Rivals and Halo The Master Chief Collection.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is larger than the current model, featuring a bigger screen and JoyCons.

The JoyCons will reportedly utilise technology to eliminate stick drift, as well as magnets for connecting to the display.

Judging by the trailer, the JoyCons can also be used like a mouse, meaning PC-style games should work better on the Switch 2.

The kickstand is also more flexible, giving users more viewing angles when playing in handheld mode.

It looks like Mario Kart 9 is also in development, and based on the trailer, should support 24-person races in single and multiplayer.
