ONE of the principle reasons for Julen Lopetegui’s sacking was due to his agent being Jorge Mendes, according to reports in Spain.
Just a day after it was announced the Spaniard would become the new Real Madrid manager, La Roja boss called a press conference where it was confirmed he would leave his post with immediate effect.

The news was highly controversial, given it came just two days before their World Cup opener, with many questioning whether this was the wisest move.
But El Pais claim the fact he shares an agent with the likes of David de Gea, Diego Costa, Saul Niguez and Rodrigo could have posed a serious issue.
The article explains: “The possibility of Lopetegui’s head being turned had become a rumour [amongst the players].
“For months, important international players had begun suspecting he was making decisions for team, thinking about his own career after the World Cup.”
