Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the UK price, specs and release date for its first fully electric car the EQC. This all-electric SUV will look to rival cars such as the Audi e-tron and Tesla Model X when it goes on sale later this year. The German carmaker has now opened the books for the car making it available to order in the UK. Prices for the vehicle start at £65,640 OTR for the EQC 400 4MATIC Sport and rise up to £79,260 for the EQC Edition 1886.
This makes it almost £6,000 cheaper than the baseline e-tron. Powering the car is an 80kWh lithium-ion battery pack which has a WLTP range of 259-miles on a single charge.
It also has a power output of 408 hp and 765 Nm of torque allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 5.1 seconds and has a top speed of 111 mph.
It’s not as good-looking as the Audi e-tron and its design is a little bit underwhelming.
Mercedes have missed the mark with the styling with the cluttered grille design at the front that looks like two ideas rolled into one.
The rear looks like an evolution of the GLC swapping out traditional lights for strip lights.
Inside the car, it features the same MBUX infotainment system used on a number of new Mercedes cars.
This includes the dual widescreen displays which take up most of the dashboard, an LED ambient lighting system, and overall clean and crisp design.
EQC Sport models come as standard with Active Parking Assist with a reversing camera, Blind Spot Assist Mirror package, Keyless-Go Comfort package, and Multibeam LED Headlights.
A Seat Comfort package, heated seats, 19-inch alloy wheels are also included on these models.
Upgrading to the AMG Line trims adds some black exterior detailing, sports leather upholstery, carbon fibre trim, 10-inch allows and some other sporty tweaks.
The AMG Line Premium models feature all of the above equipment and add an electric sliding roof, Burmester surround sound system, ENERGIZING package, MBUX Augmented Navigation, smartphone integration and wireless charging
There are also two three more variants – EQC AMG Line Premium Plus, Edition 1 and EQC Editions 1886 – which feature other various extras.
