Meghan Markle's family member serving as top adviser to Duke and Duchess – 'They're close'

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have had to cope with several changes in their first year of marriage, including the move to their personal household and the arrival of their first son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Royal expert James Brookes claimed the Duke and Duchess have enrolled the help of the Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, to help them cope with the emotional and physical changes they faced in the past few months. Speaking to ITV’s Lorraine, Mr Brookes said: “Lots of stuff and changes at the royal household in the last few months. We’ve had the Sussexes change tack from the Cambridges, they split, they’re now at Buckingham Palace.

The Duchess’s mother also temporarily relocated to the UK in the weeks before the birth of her grandson Archie in May to be close to the couple. She later returned to her hometown of Los Angeles before coming back to attend the baby’s christening in July.

Mr Brookes added: “If you think about the recent tensions that we’ve had between Harry and William, obviously, Meghan cutting off her dad and that side of the family, it’s quite nice for her and Harry to have somebody quite close both physically for help, as they did when Archie was born at Frogmore, but also emotionally for the pressure that it brings as a royal.”

Meghan Markle broke off her relationship with her father Thomas Markle Sr. after he published a letter the Duchess wrote to plead with him to stop appearing on television to discuss her private life.

Mr Markle previously failed to attend Meghan and Harry’s wedding in May 2018 after he set up a photoshoot with paparazzi in Los Angeles ahead of the nuptials.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex last week jetted off to Ibiza with their three-month-old son to celebrate Meghan’s 38th birthday.

The couple are believed to have stayed at the Vista Alegre, a residence facing the sea whose apartments are usually rented by A-listers such as DJ David Guetta and Sir Paul McCartney, according to The Sun.

The Duke and Duchess reportedly flew to the Spanish island on August 6, two days after Meghan’s birthday.

According to a source who spoke to the Mail on Sunday, the couple and their son landed in Ibiza with several taxpayer-funded Met Police bodyguards.

The Met Police told “We do no comment on matters of security.

“They have not sourced any comment from us.”
