Lorraine Kelly talks being 'lumbered' with Strictly's Anton Du Beke after ITV show break

It comes as the presenter announced she would be taking a break from presenting on ITV over the summer.

Lorraine explained that she can “categorically confirm” she “won’t be taking part in the show”.

But the Scottish-native has spoken candidly about being meeting up with BBC favourite Anton Du Beke, 54, where she admittedly showcased her skills with the professional dancer.

Addressing taking part in the BBC show, Lorraine said: “I love to watch Strictly, but as a 60-year-old woman with two left feet it would be painful viewing for all of you.”

Lorraine joked that if she was a contestant in the dance competition she would end up being partnered with Anton.

“And you know that poor old Anton du Beke would be lumbered with having to drag me around the dance floor as I galumphed out of time to even the simplest of steps,” she continued in her column for The Sun.

“Anton is brilliant and could teach (almost) anyone to elegantly waltz or energetically jive.”

The ITV favourite addressed the moment she previously danced with the Latin champion as she claimed Anton referred to her as a “tree”.

Instead, the TV star said she has been visiting her parents after going four and a half months without seeing them following the recent lockdown

Her dad turned 79 in March and has been battling a “serious heart condition”, and this has made Lorraine understandably feel “anxious”.

His recent ill-health has made the broadcaster “realise what’s important in life” as she now seeks to spend more time with her family.

Lorraine’s father has been kept in hospital at Hairmyres in East Kilbride, and the star took the “sleeper train” to visit him.

This year, her parents will celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary together.

Lorraine will be back on her ITV show September to man the helm after enjoying a much-needed rest from her hosting duties.

Regular guest host Christine Lampard will be helping out and Andi Peters will also be given the infamous spot after presenting the competition segments on the show.

Speaking of taking over from the veteran, the Loose Women panellist said: “I’m really looking forward to being back at Lorraine.”
