A Spanish social media influencer has issued a six-word warning after claiming her bag was almost stolen during a visit to a popular city in the country. Marta Díaz was in Barcelona last weekend to attend La Liga wonderkid Lamine Yamal’s 18th birthday party, and was at the city’s Sants station about to head back to Madrid when the alleged incident occurred.
In a video on her TikTok channel, she gave her account of what happened, cautioning people at various kinds of travel hubs that, “Honestly, it only takes a second”.
Ms Díaz, who has more than five m illion followers on the social media platform, claimed a “guy was looking at me in a strange way, very different from when you guys bump into me and say hello”. She dded: “He didn’t give me a good feeling at all.”
Ms Díaz was inside the train, just minutes before it was due to leave, and placed her suitcase in the compartment above her. But she then claims “it disappeared.”
“This had never happened to me, and I was really scared, honestly,” she said.
Ms Díaz says she stood up and started looking for it and “kept repeating out loud, ‘it’s not here, it’s not here'”.
Another passenger alleged the man she had seen earlier had stolen her belongings, ABC Gente reports.
The social media star said she rushed off to look for him.
“The train was packed with people, but I managed to get out of the carriage. I saw him at the far end, walking calmly with my suitcase in his hand,” she claimed.
“I was really scared and stressed because I thought: ‘what if he does something to me?'”
“However, he didn’t even put up any resistance. He acted clueless, as if he had no idea what was happening. I was in shock,” Ms Díaz claimed.
The social media star, who has 5.9million followers on the platform, said: “Not just in Barcelona, but anywhere: stations, airports… Honestly, it only takes a second. You get distracted and they take everything.”
Ms Díaz also thanked a young man dressed in black with a cap who she claims helped her recover her missing suitcase, saying: “If you’re watching this, please write to me. I’d like to thank you properly for your help. What you did was huge” .
She also offered her thanks to two train staff members who later came over to calm her down, saying they were “lovely and I’m very grateful to them too”.
