Bargain of the week

Tesco Finest Prosecco Valdobbiadene, £8 (normally £10)

This is made from grapes grown in the smarter vineyards of the Prosecco region around the hills of Valdobbiadene and it’s delightful: light white peach and pear with a hint of lemon.

White wine

Adnams Bacchus 2018, £13.99, Adnams

An English white made for Suffolk brewers Adnams, this is a lovely Bacchus wine. The grape is widely grown across UK. Delicious and a touch floral, it’s packed with fresh grapefruit flavours.

Food pairing: Quiche.

Red wine

Da Vida Garnacha, £8, Co-op

Rich, juicy red from Navarra in Spain (not far from Rioja), it’s made from the Garnacha grape. Stick this one in the fridge for up to an hour before drinking — chilling slightly will make the black cherry flavours pop.

Food pairing: Posh hot dogs.

Rosé wine

Mirabeau Pret A Porter 25cl, £3.49, Waitrose

From the team behind the Provence wine brand Mirabeau, this is rosé-to-go. Each can holds a generous glass and a blend of Grenache, Syrah and a dollop of Merlot. It’s light and fresh with raspberry and cherry fruit.

Food pairing: Feta salad.

Homemade Cocktails by Helen McGinn (£10.99, Robinson) is available now.
