Kevin Clifton: 'A great match' Strictly pro hints at new partner after Stacey Dooley win
Kevin Clifton, 36, took to Twitter after fans spoke out about who he should be partnered up with on Strictly Come Dancing this year. One hopeful Strictly viewer suggested the professional dancer, who won the glitterball trophy with his now-girlfriend Stacey Dooley, 32, last December, would make “a great match” with former Lioness Alex Scott, 34. They retweeted the BBC show’s announcement post concerning the former footballer and addressed Kevin in the caption, writing: “@keviclifton a great match I think xx.” Kevin appeared to agree with the Twitter user’s comment as he liked their tweet from his official page.
The dancer added: “But you know what he looks extremely happy, so I’m happy that he’s happy.”
Karen then shut down speculation about there being any “drama” between her and Kevin following their split last year.
She said: “Most people think that we’d be like ‘oh I don’t like it’, but no. Not at all. We laugh. There is no drama. I don’t like drama baby llama! I’m happy, he’s happy, let’s all be happy!”
When asked if there is any tension in rehearsals, Karen replied: “I’m so proud of him and all the things he’s been doing lately. For us, it’s never been a problem and it never will be a problem. We’re really cool.”
Karen continued: “We absolutely love working together. We’re dancing together. The nice thing is that we don’t have partners that we are dancing with all the time, we switch partners around, so we all get a feel for everybody else.”
Stacey and Kevin were the subject of romance rumours after she broke up with her boyfriend Sam Tucknott earlier this year.
The documentary filmmaker recently addressed her relationship with the ballroom and latin champion after wanting to keep their private lives private.
During an interview with The Guardian, Stacey divulged: “Kev and I have agreed not to go into too much detail about our private lives because you can’t really indulge that and then ask for privacy.
“That’s why we’ve turned down interviews that have offered us tens of thousands of pounds.”
The presenter went on: “What I am happy to say is Kev’s amazing, I’m happy, life happens, I’ve got an amazing career and I’m very lucky.”
Strictly Come Dancing 2019 returns to BBC One this autumn.
