Instagram Down – Social Media Users Report Photo-sharing Site Not Working

INSTAGRAM appears to have crashed tonight as social media users are reporting issues with the photo-sharing app.

The website Down Detector noted a spike in people reporting problems with Instagram globally at around 7pm BST. This map shows the countries experiencing an outage with Instagram on Friday evening

A map on the website shows the worst affect places appear to be the UK, the US and parts of Europe.

The problem appears to relate to the app failing to load new images.

We tested the app in the Sun offices, and found that we got an error message saying: “Couldn’t refresh feed”.

When opened on web browser it gave a “5xx error” screen.

Bemused users of the Facebook-owned app have taken to Twitter to vent their frustration.

One user said: “did insta crash for anyone else or was that me bc all of my accs are saying “couldn’t refresh feed” or some error notice.”

A superstitious tweeter responded: “Me too. It’s Friday the 13th that’s why”.
