From insights into the brand’s heritage to a tour of the Smart Cottage, one standout moment for me in South Korea was getting to see and experience some of the brand’s smart appliances. Smart appliances aren’t a new thing; in fact, they’ve been around a while.
However, LG takes them to a new level, launching appliances in different categories including fridges, washing machines, dishwashers and microwave ovens. Here are some appliances I now want in my home to take it to a new level.
LG InstaView Refrigerator
While it might look like a normal fridge from afar, LG’s InstaView technology heightens kitchen efficiency by letting owners check their fridge’s contents without opening the door.
A quick double knock on its transparent glass panel shows you what’s inside, making it easier for the fridge to maintain the internal temperature and reduce energy loss.
This fridge was super impressive to me, and then I found out it could make various types of ice, which is great for various drinks, not just in the summer.
It comes completely with UVnano cleaning technology, which keeps the water dispenser nozzle clean as well as LinearCooling and DoorCooling features to minimise temperature fluctuations and ensure produce is kept fresh.
Whilst this is quite a big fridge, ideal for families, smaller versions are also available, suitable for smaller kitchens.
LG Tumble Dryer
The new LG tumble dryer, due to launch next month, is super impressive, and I’m so tempted to make the investment. It has so many features that I didn’t know I needed until I was shown them.
Take the AI Dry feature, for example. It detects the weight, fabric type, and moisture levels of each load and adjusts the drying time and temperature accordingly.
This means no more wondering if your clothes are going to shrink or taking them out of the tumble dryer every half an hour to see if they’re dry. It was incredible. It can also keep your clothes fresh if you forget about them in the drum or have to pop them out, the most thoughtful feature I’ve ever seen on a tumble dryer.
Dishwasher
LG’s QuadWash dishwasher, already launched in the UK, features incredible technology to ensure cutlery and plates come out sparkling without bacteria. The TrueSteam feature can also reduce water spots on dishes, something that irritates me the most when it comes to dishwashers.
I also loved the Smart Rack feature, which enables owners to load plates of various sizes and designs for heightened convenience. The additional side rack also enables the loading of large cutting boards and frying pans to be placed in the dishwasher without falling over. Again, it was another appliance which had so much I didn’t know I needed until I saw it.
Another standout area was the brand’s smart home platform, ThinQ. It allows users to control and monitor their smart appliances and devices remotely. Whether that’s a software update or real-time diagnostics, everything connected to one app could be super helpful for busy parents or workers.
