It’s no secret that Sony makes some of the best premium headphones on the market which not only sound great but also offer market-leading Active Noise Cancellation which blocks out annoying sounds around you. The only issue with splashing out on a pair of Sony’s cans is the price, with the latest and greatest WH-1000XM6 headphones costing well over £370.
That’s a lot of money. Luckily, there is currently a much cheaper way to get the playlists started, with Amazon cutting the cost of the Japanese firm’s older WH-1000XM5s to under £200. When they originally launched back in 2022, these music makers would have set you back over £350, so this is a bit of a bargain.
As a quick reminder, Sony’s WH-1000XM5s offer high-quality audio and some of the best ANC on the market.
They also feature a lightweight design with soft-fit leather earpads for comfort and will keep the tunes going for over 30 hours on one charge.
There’s also fast charging when they run flat, which provides 3 hours of power from just a 3-minute refill.
If that sounds enticing, then Amazon and the Sony Store are both selling the Sony WH-1000XM5SA cans for just £199.99.

The only thing to note about these Special Edition headphones is that they only feature a soft case and not a hard case found on the normal model.
Sony says the soft case makes them ideal for the gym, travel and work. However, it also means they won’t be as protected against knocks as the standard hard-case version.
If you want to buy the WH-1000XM5 with a hard case, Argos is currently selling them for £229.99 – that’s the UK retailer’s ‘lowest ever’ price.
The final thing to note about the XM5s is that they have now been superseded by the XM6s, which offer even better sound, improved ANC and new touch controls.
